Star Valley is located in-between the Salt and Snake River Ranges in Western Wyoming and the Caribou Range of Eastern Idaho. The altitude of the valley ranges from 5,600 feet to 9,600 feet. Three major Wyoming rivers, the Salt, Greys and the Snake River meet near Alpine and form the Palisades Reservoir. Numerous towns are located in the valley, including Alpine, Afton, Thayne, Bedford, Etna, Smoot, Fairview, Osmond, Freedom, Grover, Auburn, Alpine, Turnerville and Star Valley Ranch.
